Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Do Not Call registration, filing complaints, and using DNC IT's temporary service.

What is DNC IT?

DNC IT is a temporary service that allows you to register phone numbers and file complaints while the official DoNotCall.gov website is offline. We securely store your submissions and will forward them to the FTC once their system is restored.

Is this service official?

No, DNC IT is an independent service and is not affiliated with the Federal Trade Commission. However, we follow FTC guidelines and will transfer all submissions to the official system once it's available.

How long does registration take effect?

Once your registration is processed by the FTC, telemarketers have 31 days to stop calling you. Registrations don't expire and remain active permanently unless you remove them.

Will all unwanted calls stop?

No. The Do Not Call Registry only applies to telemarketing calls. You may still receive calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors, and companies with which you have an existing business relationship.

How do I know my data is secure?

We use industry-standard encryption and secure database storage. Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, and we follow best practices for data security and privacy.

Can I check my submission status?

Yes! Use our status checker to track your registration or complaint. You can search by phone number or submission ID to see the current status and sync progress.

What types of calls can I report?

You can report robocalls, live telemarketing calls, recorded messages, text messages, and ringless voicemails. Common complaint categories include warranty scams, debt collection, healthcare offers, student loan forgiveness, and credit card services.

How do I stop text message spam?

File a complaint about unwanted text messages through our complaint form. Include the sender's phone number, date, time, and message content. You can also forward spam texts to 7726 (SPAM) to report them to your carrier.
